According to the organizer, the four-day car festival is expected to attract 100,000 visitors.
“More than 2,000 cars participated in the car festival this year.” Andy Lopes, one of the organizers of the auto festival, told the reporter.
According to his introduction, this activity began in the new year of 1988 and is now held after the New Year every year.
“Australians have special feelings for cars.” Lopes said, “Australia has a large territory, people have to drive wherever they go, and we have a long history of automobile production that we are proud.”
Over the years, the scale of automobile festival has gradually expanded and the quality of participating vehicles has also been improved.

The burning race is also a highlight. Lopes believes that the burning race originated in Australia, and the audience can enjoy the world’s largest burning race at the summer auto festival.
He introduced that there are four criteria for judging the tire burning competition: whether the smoke of the car is fast, whether it lasts, how the driver’s driving skills are, and whether the roar of the car lasts.
The final of the burn-out competition was held on the afternoon of the 5th. So far, the auto festival began and ended in heavy haze, and experienced the hottest day in Canberra’s history on the 4th.
However, such weather did not prevent car enthusiasts from going to watch.
48-year-old Dean Douglas and his girlfriend come from Perth, Western Australia, more than 3,000 kilometers away.
“I come to the car festival every year.” He said, “I was only over ten when I first came here.”
When talking about the charm of automobile festival, he said, “Maybe this is the only occasion in Australia where people can see so many different vehicles.”
He compared the Automobile Festival to a large-scale carnival, where both men and women, young and old, gather together to spread their passion. His father is 68 years old and his younger brother is in his thirties. “You can see a variety of car enthusiasts here.”
Although Canberra’s air quality was once the worst among major cities in the world these days, Douglas, like many people on the scene, did not wear masks. “Of course, we don’t want to see smog.” He said, “but in the current situation, we should also try our best to live as usual.
